Take a couple from Philly, throw in hilarious catchphrases and some of the most viral pranks on the entire Internet and you have PrankvsPrank (PvP)/ BoyfriendvsGirlfriend (BFvsGF).
Jesse Wellens and Jeana make up the dynamic duo that is PvP, and though these two are seemingly another adorable YouTube couple, they definitely live up to their title as YouTube’s “craziest couple” as labeled by ABC news.
Their vlogging career began, because Jesse simply wanted to prank Jeana into completing “The Cinnamon Challenge” which is viral video fad in which the participant eats a spoonful of cinnamon only to realize that they cannot swallow it as simply as they have may thought. Jeana’s reaction garnered millions of views, viewers who still continue to watch their ongoing prank war.
They currently have two popular channels, PvP and their daily vlog BFvsGF.
The past four years have been quite a whirlwind for the unbelievably still-in-love couple. Their most popular pranks include
- “Girlfriend Caught Cheating” with 18.2 million views
- “Hot Pepper Extract” with 13.8 million views
- “Surprise Haircut on Girlfriend” with 12.7 million views
They currently have 3.8 million subscribers on their PvP channel and 2.3 million subscribers on their BFvGF channel.
Their appeal rests not only in their shocking and laughter inducing pranks, but their sense of humor and unique connection they have created with their audience.
They have labeled their audience as “The Dope Fresh Nation” and have created their own unique sayings and taglines like “PvP SAAAAAAN”, “Peace on the streets”, “Going Ham” and Jesse’s infamous “Cookie Dance”.
Their daily vlogs follow the stereotypical vlog format of short clips of their day, including their two cats Nylah and Bambu (Do I sense a pattern of YouTube’s most popular vloggers being pet owners?).
Their message is always one of positivity and light-heartedness that resonates throughout all aspects of their vlogs. Regardless of the intensity of the pranks these two are completely in love and can share it with the world through YouTube.
These two show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Jesse and Jeana have begun to sell merchandise based upon their popular vlogs and Jesse has even become an iTunes chart topper thanks to his alter ego appropriately named Chip Chocolate. His song “The Cookie Dance” was released on September 25, 2013 has over 13,000 five-star reviews on iTunes and broke into the top 50 songs on the United States, Canada, UK and numerous other nations charts.
