The dynamic brotherly duo, Benny and Rafi Fine are a picture perfect example of YouTube success. Together they have created TheFineBros channel (and others), which stand as a shimmering gem of online accomplishment.
The Fine Brothers recently hit a huge milestone on August 24, 2013 as their channel officially hit over one billion views. Their main channel currently has approximately 6.5 million subscribers and features various web series that are both scripted and unscripted.
For the sake of the vlog-centric nature of this blog, I want to discuss their wildly popular React Series. It all started in 2010 when the duo launched “Kids React” which features children watching a video from the Internet and then interviewing the children regarding their feelings about what they just saw. Since 2010, the Fine Brothers have added to their React series by now producing “Teens React”, “Elders React” and “YouTubers React”.
The React series garnered attention from AOL and eventually led the Fine Brothers to win a Daytime Emmy in 2012 for “Best Viral Video Series”.
The most popular episode of Kids React (Kids React to Harlem Shake) came out on March 10, 2013 and has almost 23 million views.
The most popular episode of Teens React (Teens React to Gangnam Style) came out on August 19, 2013 and has approximately 26.5 million views.
The most popular episode of Elders React (Elders React to Dubstep) came out on July 5, 2012 and has almost 15 million views.
I really love this series, a lot of the reactions are genuine and most of them funny. The Fine Brothers do a great job in varying the kind of content they show the participants and take viewer recommendations to decide what exactly will be shown.
Occasionally the subject matter gets heavy and the response from the various age groups is incredibly raw and honest. Episodes such as “Kids React to Gay Marriage” and “Teens React to Bullying” touch on modern day issues that deserve to be publicly spoken about by all ages.
